The project

La AmistOsa Biological Corridor is an ambitious project by various stakeholders that involves local communities, government organizations, NGOs, eco-lodges, and national and international universities. The network aims to create a biological and wildlife corridor from the coral reefs off the Osa Peninsula to La Amistad International Park along Costa Rica’s highest mountain range. The Ridge to Reef initiative by Osa Conservation, one of the stakeholders, works to increase connectivity in the AmistOsa Corridor, as well as the region’s resilience in the face of climate change, and presents a scalable model for cross- sectoral biological corridor conservation.

My responsibilities

I supported the Highlands Restoration Team which operates in the Coto Brus area and works mainly in altitudinal areas on a mixture of forest patches, plantations and pastures. My tasks included fieldwork, work in the nursery, site-visits, meetings and negotiations with farmers, landowners, project partners and network members, the planning and implementation of workshops and events, social media and communication, reporting and documentation.
