The project
Ten groups and an international jury were invited to participate in the second international theater festival in Erbil which took place from September 18-24, 2012. Theater and performance groups came from Egypt, Germany, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Pakistan, Spain, Uganda, and Turkey. Two months prior, a training in cultural management and festival organization was conducted for the festival team.
My responsibilities
As international consultant and coordinator, I planned and co-conducted the training in cultural management and festival organization prior to the festival. I was also in charge of preselecting and communicating with the invited theater groups, researching and commissioning translations, communicating with and overseeing the technical and other teams, researching, selecting and preparing venues, programming rehearsal, stage set-up and performance schedules, supporting the groups on site, arranging agreements with the festival direction, and reacting to and solving plenty of unforeseeable smaller and bigger catastrophes. The hardest and most nerve-wrecking job I’ve done so far, certainly memorable.
