The project

OVERxCOME premiered in Munich, Germany at Kunstareal Fest 2017 by Pinakothek der Moderne and was later invited to the Karachi Biennale 2017. The project consisted of a workshop series and a performative installation which explored the relations between bodies, borders, surfaces, and materials, with movement as the imperative element. OVERxCOME drew from both South-Asian as well as European/German cultural heritage in the fields of dance, theater, music, and fashion art in order to reference and examine complex questions.

In a workshop series, the international team of instructors, artists and curators created a scenic-choreographic project in cooperation with local actors, dancers, and musicians to be performed during the Kunstareal Fest and the Karachi Biennale.

My responsibilities

My curatorial and managerial responsibilities included the conception and development of the project, research, the organization of the workshops, the selection of and communication with artists, instructors, and participants, agreements and arrangements with partner organizations, as well as the support of the artists in their work process which culminated in several performances in public space.

I taught workshops, led experiential performance walks, compiled and created communication material as well as press content, and moderated artist talks.

The body is motion, is transformation. The body is an island by itself, a decisive part of a system, and a microcosm of the universe. The body is barrier, is vehicle. The body is memory, holding history while shaping the present. the body is political.
