ECOSYSTEM RESTORATION WITH INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES IN GUATEMALA

RESTORING ECOSYSTEMS AND IMPROVING LIVELIHOODS THROUGH AGROFORESTRY WITH CONTOUR LINES CORP.
The project
Contour Lines Corp., named after a soil conservation method, works with indigenous rural communities in Guatemala to convert their agricultural land from monocultures to regenerative agroforestry systems. At the organization’s center and cafe in Antigua, post-harvest processing adds value to crops, thus supporting ecosystem and soil regeneration while increasing livelihoods and nutritional value.
My responsibilities
I had the chance to visit several collaborating villages along Rio Dulce and witness the organization’s work up close. In Antigua, I initiated collaborations and partnerships, advised on outreach and public relations programs, monitoring & evaluation, and event design. We are currently working on developing research collaborations with local and international universities.
